About The Offor Talent Network

Welcome to The Offor Talent Network, a newsletter from Ify Walker, a former teacher, ex-attorney, and the founder of the Talent Broker and Executive Search Firm Offor.

You’ve come to the right place if you’ve ever felt like there was an unspoken set of rules for navigating our careers, relationships, and networks and that there has to be a better way to do it all.

The Offor Talent Network is about learning how to:

  • navigate career changes and opportunities

  • the underlying emotions that we feel as we experience change, and

  • how to change your career and build the network and community you want

Dream with me for a bit. Imagine building a network of people who could help you get from where you are today to where you want to be. This publication is about empowering people to identify what is not working in their careers and lives, live into the emotions that come along with it, and make changes while building the network they want.

As a former teacher, ex-lawyer, and 2x company builder, navigating cultures as an introverted Nigerian-American and moving from cities to a Midwestern farm, I’ve experimented with building networks across generations, cultures, and sectors.

I’ll share what I’ve learned along the way, provide tips for navigating careers, and expand your networks. I’ll also invite you into the invisible job, career, and influence network.

Hi, I’m Ify Walker.

15 years ago, I jumped off the non-profit rat race - convinced that there had to be a better way to accelerate my career and still build a life.

One day, a former colleague asked me to interview with his board. If they liked me, they’d hire me as the next CEO. I turned him down but suggested I’d return to him with some names for consideration.

He offered to pay me to do it; Offor was born.

After working with over 500 CEOs and hundreds of companies, I’ve learned this: hiring isn’t a meritocracy. Hiring at the C-level is still largely driven by who you know.

So, if you want to change your career, the fastest path is changing who you know.

I’m excited to share what I’ve learned from a behind-the-scenes look at how CEOs and executives get hired and the mistakes, successes, and lessons learned.

I look forward to meeting many of you along this journey.

Let’s change who we know.
